Alka is a consultant to early-stage healthcare companies and a volunteer patient advocate.
Alka has experience as an ombudsman for long-term care facilities and as a caregiver for her sister, whose life was cut short by medical negligence. She is currently focused on reforming state medical boards and state laws to improve patient rights with respect to medical negligence and organ transplants.
Alka was previously a Vice President in healthcare investment banking at Deutsche Bank and UBS Investment Bank in New York, where she advised clients on mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, and debt/equity offerings. She previously worked in corporate restructuring at KPMG LLP in San Francisco and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Los Angeles. She holds a BA in History and Economics from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA in Finance, Accounting, and Entrepreneurship from The University of Chicago.
